Vela began with a promise to a team. When a much-loved Portuguese restaurant in Fourways closed in 2018, owner Avril wasn't willing to see her kitchen go their separate ways. She opened Vela at the gateway to the Magaliesberg so the whole team could keep cooking together.
Serving traditional dishes with a modern turn - peri-peri baby chicken, trinchado and espetada from the coals, some of the freshest fish and seafood on offer, and the coconut curries of the Mozambican coast, all plated with care.
